The Kano State Assembly has commenced scrutinizing of 44 proposed Interim Management Committees (IMCs) for the local government councils.
The nominees were officially submitted to the house for consideration by Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in February, 2024Kano State Assembly
“In an official letter dated February 28, 2024, Governor Yusuf highlighted the vital reason behind the selection of these candidates – the expiration of the tenures of elected chairmen and councillors on February 12, 2024”.

According to statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Right Honourable Speaker, ” Governor Yusuf further emphasized that these appointments align with the provisions outlined in the Kano State Local Governments laws of 2006.
“Furthermore, these decisions are firmly grounded in the constitutional powers vested in the Governor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as dictated by the Established Local Governments Laws.
“With a view towards upholding the law and ensuring smooth governance, Governor Yusuf has sought the appointment of interim management committees who will dutifully serve for a period of three months, as mandated by the relevant legislation”.
The statement further noted that “Demonstrating a shared vision, the Speaker of the Kano House of Assembly, the Right Honourable Jibrin Ismail Falgore, has unequivocally reaffirmed the house’s unwavering commitment to collaborating closely with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to achieve mutually desired objectives”.
