Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa has withdrawn his earlier resignation to step down as Director General, Kano Hisbah Board.

The famous Islamic scholar, accepted to resume his duty as Commander of the board after the intervention of the Coalition of Islamic Scholars and Ulama in the state.

The news of Daurawa and Kano state government reconciliation broke out after a picture of a team of notable Islamic scholars and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf went viral on social media, Monday evening.

However, the spokesperson of  Kano State Council of Ulama, Dr. Saidu Dukawa told journalists at the government house that peace has finally been broken.

According to Dr. Dukawa, Shiekh Daurawa accepted to return as Hisbah Commander after a peace-breaking meeting championed by the coalition of Kano Ulama.

Daurawa tendered his resignation in a few-minute video clip posted on his official Facebook page on Friday.

Daurawa’s resignation came less than 24 hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf faulted the new method of operations being deployed by Hisbah against acts of immorality in the state.

While addressing Ulama at the Government House yesterday, Gov. Yusuf, especially kicked against the mode of invading public places in the name of arresting prostitutes, an act he considered uncivilized.

Governor Yusuf also frowns at Hisbah’s ‘harassment’ of social media influencers, insisting the board must review its present operations to correct the wrongs in the society.

Reacting to Governor Yusuf’s comment, the Daurawa explained that the  Hisbah board under his stewardship has embarked on a series of activities to correct the immorality being perpetrated in the society especially those social media influencers.

According to Sheikh Daurawa, Hisbah has done what he believes was right and in accordance with the tenets of Islam. He however noted that he would resign his appointment and wishes the Governor and his administration well.
