Kano state assembly has indicted the seven members of State Independent Electoral Commission of misappropriation of public fund during the conduct of 2021 local government election.
Besides, assembly ordered KANSIEC members to refund a sum of N41. 3 million unaccounted fund from the total budget allocation.
The indictment was resolve during plenary on Tuesday after a unanimous adoption of report and recommendations of the house committee on public finance on 2021 FAAC audited report.

Presenting the public finance report earlier before the house presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Falgore, the deputy Chairman of the committee Hon. Engr. Ahmad Ibrahim said a misappropriation of allocation alotted to KANSIEC was uncovered in the large sum of over N41 million without course.
The member representing Karaye state constituency added that committee’s finding revealed that KANSIEC incurred expenses from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) without recourse to appropriation law.
Worried that such attitude casted doubt on the credibility of the commission during the local council poll, Karaye said the chairman and members of KANSIEC constituted bridge of trust.
In the recommendations adopted, the assembly urged the state government to relieve the current members of KANSIEC of their duty for distrust and bridge of public trust.
The lawmakers also advised the executive arms to send fresh list of nominees worth of integrity for screening and consideration for the commission.
Prior to KANSIEC indictment, the assembly had accused KAROTA and two other public agencies of misappropriation of public funds. The legislature specifically asked KAROTA to refund N257, 657 million misused fund back to government covers.
