Kano state Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reacted to the call on him by acting National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to join the fold of the ruling party.
Governor Yusuf’s reaction came barely 24 hours after the wider APC stakeholders in Kano resolved to reconcile with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
Ganduje may have finally succumbed to the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to plead onwithovernor Yusuf and members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to reunite with him in APC.
He appeared on Thursday at the end of the APC stakeholders meeting in Kano where he subsequently reaffirmed acceptance of the Supreme Court verdict that affirmed Governor Yusuf’s victory.
However, Director General, Media and Publicity, Kano state government house, Sanusi Bature insisted Governor Yusuf has no plan to dump his NNPP party for any option elsewhere.
The Governor’s spokesperson hinted that like every other person, the Governor got to hear Ganduje’s appeal on the pages of social media, adding that the government has not yet certain what exactly the intention of the APC leader is.
Sanusi said ” Well, like every other person in Kano, the Governor had Ganduje making calls on social media. We believe as a former Governor, he should know the right channel of communication if he truly wanted to pass information across to the Governor.
” And as for whether the Governor will join APC, I can confirm to you that my boss has no intention to leave his party the NNPP for any other party. Let me repeat, the Governor has no interest in joining any party because he’s satisfied with the NNPP”. Sanusi noted.
Ganduje had told the forum that APC is making frantic move to ensure Kano remains a one party state with largest and formidable members that will determine the future of political dimension in Nigeria
” To build a solid and formidable party with followers APC must open its doors widely to accept members from the oppositions. APC is working to build a one-party state and that is why we are inviting the Governor of Kano and all the supporters of NNPP to join APC”. Ganduje noted.
