Peoplespen24 online platform can confirm that the embattled Governor is challenging the concurrent verdicts of the tribunal and Appeal court that ruled in favor of Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Apex Court which decision would finally lay the eight month legal battle to rest.

Nevertheless, the much awaited judgment has triggered palpable anxiety in the city following visible sign of volatility occasioned by the utterances of members of both APC and NNPP.

Expectedly the raging threat of violence and mass protest against the outcome of the outcome of the Supreme Court has provoked needless security threat in the state as confirmed by the security agencies.

Already, several private schools in the city have suspended their regular activities on Friday (today) for safety reasons following the rising tension and security risk. Although, government has not announced closure of schools on Friday, our reporter received messages sent to parents by private schools to confirm closure.

Also, Peoplespen 24 was reliably informed that majority of the commercial institutions in Kano have directed skeleton operations tomorrow Friday following the supreme Court Judgment.

A management staff of one of the new generation banks who want to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak told our reporter that his branch and others may not open for regular transaction tomorrow for fear of crisis.

Meanwhile, the Police Command in the state has reassured protection of lives and property of the residents during and after the supreme Court judgment.

Addressing journalists at the Bompai Police headquarters at the end of the joint security consultative emergency meeting on Thursday, Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel said the security apparatus in the state has put in place fortified measures to ensure peace and tranquility.

CP Gumel said the security has received the assurances of the leadership of the political parties in a Memorandum of Understanding to maintain peace. He however warned that the security has the strength to curtail any attempt by any group to foment trouble on the outcome of the judgment.

The Police boss however allayed fear in town while urged the residents to go about their lawful business without fear of harrasment or molestation.
