The Kano Science Schools Old Students Associations (KASSOSA), has vowed to restore the lost glory of the prestigious Science Colleges with a bright future in no distant time.
The association made the commitment during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association, held in Sani Zahraddeen Theater, Bayero University Old Campus in Kano.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of KASSOSA, Dr. MD Shehu decried the current state of science colleges as a result of gross neglect by the government, and interventions to revive the colleges by various class chapters of KASSOSA must be commended.

He appealed to them to sit up and embark on projects for the immediate revamping of the old glories of Science Colleges.
“You can see that we have achieved enormously well in training our younger generations through the KASSOSA Entrepreneurship Programme. Over 600 young people benefitted, and the programme impacted positively on their lives.
“I urge the incoming exco to continue with the scheme targeted at empowering our youth.
Speaking in the same vein, the chairman organizing committee of KASSOSA annual general meeting, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ali, pointed out that they are able to organized such occasions as a result of cooperation of class chapters and other individual members.
Abdulkadir Ali added that the effort needs to be redoubled to achieve the target glory.
In his presidential address, Malam Balarabe Nuhu Jalla promised to ensure that the projects that were mapped out during his first tenure as the President of KASSOSA will see the light of the day.
Jalla ensured that his second tenure as the President of KASSOSA will focus on changing the mindset of KASSOSITE to engage in more business opportunities and entrepreneurship skills.
“I’ll engage all my exco to build on the existing effort, but this time we’ll partner with agencies, non-governmental organization in training our youth.
“I’m happy to announce that KASSOSA will partner with the International Committee, which they promised to train and empower our youth with 20,000 dollars after acquiring the skills, and it will go a long way in boosting our economic status.
“Your cooperation is all we need to sustain the tempo,” Balarabe Jalla stated.
Awards were given to the members that did well in the areas of human development and projects at science colleges in Kano and Jigawa were executed.
The KASSOSA was founded as a charity association for old students of the Science Colleges in Kano and Jigawa to keep in touch with one another and to support the colleges as a united body.
