In 2021, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni married Gumsu Sani Abacha in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The wedding took place at the Abuja residence of Gumsu’s brother, Mohammed Abacha.
Buni, who was the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker National Chairman, married Gumsu, who is the daughter of former Head of State, Sani Abacha.
Prominent individuals and Government officials, including the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Col. Hameed Ali, attended the wedding.
Gumsu was Buni’s fourth wife, as he had previously married three other women.
One of his previous wives is Ummi Adama, the daughter of his predecessor, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, whom he married in 2019, just 24 hours after assuming office.
In 2019, shortly after taking office, Buni also married Ummi, another daughter of his predecessor and the current Yobe East Senator, Ibrahim Gaidam. Gumsu, aged 45, is the Governor’s fourth wife.
Her marriage to Cameroonian billionaire, Bayero Mohamadou, ended in 2020. Prior to this marriage, when Fatima Abacha, also known as Gumsu, left her Cameroonian-born billionaire husband, Bayero Fadil Mohamadou, many wondered what could have caused the separation between the couple.
The reason is not difficult to understand, for 20 years, their marriage was admired by many celebrities, as it appeared to be perfect. Throughout their passionate romance, the daughter of the late military dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha, enjoyed a blissful marriage and proudly showcased her handsome husband on their wedding anniversaries and his birthday celebrations.
