The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Thursday in Ibadan inaugurated the popular Adogba Mosque, known as the Organisation of Tadamul Muslimeen Mosque.

Abubakar, who was accompanied by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, in his address urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religious affiliation, to live in peace with one another.

The Sultan noted that living peacefully with one another was of utmost importance.

”We do not care if you believe in God or not, but let us live peacefully.

“Let me do what I should do as a Muslim, while you do your own as dictated by whatever religion you choose, because the matter is between you and God, not with anybody,” he said.

Abubakar charged Muslims that will be using the facility, which was rebuilt by Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, to maintain the edifice.

He admonished them not to leave the maintenance work with the governor who built it for them.

In his remarks, Gov. Makinde said the mosque’s inauguration was in fulfillment of the promise made when the old Adogba Mosque located at Iwo Road was demolished.

The mosque’s demolition was to pave way for the construction of a bus terminal.

Makinde assured all residents of the state that they would get whatever belongs to them, irrespective of their religious affiliations or wherever they come from.

“The growth and economic development of the state remains a priority for my administration.

“My government will continue to embark on infrastructural projects to enhance the socio-economic development of the state,” he said.(NAN)
