Kano State Government has expressed readiness to support the content of the Social Protection Bill.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly Jibril Isma’il Falgore stated this during a 3 day programme on social protection parliamentary forum on financing for children in social sectors, organized by the state Ministry of Budget and Planning in collaboration with UNICEF held in Kaduna.
Jibril Isma’il Falgore represented by the Deputy Speaker and Member Rimin Gado/Tofa, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Butu-butu, said the bill torches all the lives of the people that will better up their well being.
He added that the house is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bill to begin legislative processes to ensure its passage into law.
Butu-butu added that the 10th Kano State House of Assembly will continue to support good policies for the residents of the state.
Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Planning and Budget, Hajiya Lauratu Ado Diso the Kano State Government is committed to using the budget line in covering all social protection policies to improve their well being from a young age to adolescent.
Diso representing the State Commissioner of Planning and Budget, Alhaji Musa Sulaiman Shanono reiterated that the current administration will give the bill total support toward the actualization of the Kano State Social Protection Agency.
In her remarks, Social Policy Specialist UNICEF, Kano Field Office said when the bill passes into law, it will ensure that the citizens of Kano are socially protected.
Fatima Musa added that there is a need to invest hugely in the social aspect of children so as to have a better tomorrow.
“The content of the bill is how we can increase our child financing, which will go a long way in promoting their well being.
“Child sensitivity is something that needs the contribution of all our stakeholders, and this cannot be actualized unless we increase our budgetary allocation of social protection and interventions”, Social Policy Specialist UNICEF, Kano Field Office.
