Sokoto State Government said it is recruiting no fewer than 2,760 person into the Sokoto State Community Guards Corps to combat the rampancy of banditry in the state.
The chairman of the committee established for the initiative, Yusha’u Ahmed Kebbe disclosed this during a visit to three of the most affected local governments by bandits attack in the state.
The local governments visited by the committee included Isa, Sabon Birni, and Goronyo.
He urged the youths undergoing the recruitment process to be sure that they complied with the steps of filling the recruitment forms provided in order to have themselves enrolled.

Kebbe explained that an average of 120 guards would be recruited for each of the 23 local government areas of the state.
He urged the committees at local government levels to be fair and just in the recruitment process across the state.
He also warned that bandits, informants, and other sundry criminals to repent immediately and embrace peace for stability to reign in the interest of the socio-economic development of the state.
