The Kano State government has called on agencies under the Ministry of Health to follow the lead of the state Contributory Health Management Agency (KSCHMA) by either developing or reviewing their service charters.

This call was made by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, during a three-day workshop organized by the agency in collaboration with the Lafiya Project.

The aim of the workshop was to develop a service charter for the agency, ultimately enhancing the implementation of the contributory healthcare scheme.

According to a statement signed by the Information Officer of the agency, Mohammad Nura Yusuf, the Executive Secretary, KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar, stated that for the agency to perform its responsibilities of providing affordable healthcare services and supporting the residents of Kano to overcome financial hardship of setting medical bills, the development of a service charter was paramount.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary, SERVICOM Directorate, Alhaji Nura Babba Dan Agundi, explained that the service charter was a guiding document carefully designed to guide clients, customers, and beneficiaries in the fundamentals of ministries, departments, and agencies and how to seek service and redress.

The representative of the state Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Abba Adamu Danguguwa, maintained that service charter is not only a document but a symbol of delivering quality healthcare services among others.
