The Chairman of Kano State Standing Committee for the Enhancement of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Professor Ibrahim Barde has stressed the need for revenue generating ministries, departments and agencies to build a stronger working synergy to improve the state’s IGR.
Professor Ibrahim Barde stated this at a One-Day interactive session between the committee members and heads of revenue generating MDAs.
The event was held at the Coronation Hall of the Kano state Government House, as stated in a state by Aliyu Yusuf Director of Public Enlightenment, Government House, Kano.
He said that good governance is about meeting the demands, yearnings, and aspirations of the governed, and funding is critical to satisfying such demands,
He maintained that the state need to expand more ways of generating incomes for government to be able to reduce the inherent over dependence on allocations from the Federation Account.

The Chairman recalled that, Governor Yusuf, few weeks after assumption of office, set up a Task force on revenue generation, with a view to implementing the findings and recommendations of the Task force for the improvement of IGR collection in the state.
In his remark, the Executive Chairman of Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), Alhaji Sani Abdulkadir Dembo, while commending projects executed by Governor Yusuf within five months, prayed that more projects would be executed as taxation flourish in state economy.
Presentations made at the interactive session which include: “Importance of IGR to the development of Kano State” by Alhaji Sani Abdulkadir Dembo, Executive Chairman (KIRS), ” Relevance of Data in Enhancing Revenue Generation: the Quest for Data for Tax Drive, by Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, the state Accountant General.
Others are : “brief on Kano state Target Revenue for 2024 budget year” by Comrade Yakubu Sabi’u GarunDanga, Director Budget, Kano State Ministry of Planning and budget, and “Kano Integrated Revenue Management and Assurance Services (KIRMAS)” by a Technical Adviser, Alhaji Saidu Idris Dangana.
