The House of Representatives has instructed its committee on police to investigate the murder of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Chalya Grace Silas, in Kaduna
This directive followed a motion presented by Beni Lar (PDP, Plateau) during a plenary session.
The house called on the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police (CP) to ensure the perpetrators of the murder are brought to justice.
The House also urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure that justice is served.

According to Lar, Miss Grace was murdered while jogging in Barnawa, Kaduna South LGA, on October 18, 2023.
She stated that the tragic incident is one of many cases of violence against women in the country, with perpetrators often escaping accountability.
The house expressed the need for prompt justice in this case to deter potential assailants and create a safer environment for Nigerian children and residents.
