Nigerian singer Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, known by his stage name Blackface, recently disclosed that he played a huge role in bringing the award-winning artiste Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, to Lagos, where he found fame and fortune.
Blackface, a founding member of the now-defunct Plantashun Boiz music band, revealed that 2Baba initially hesitated to include their third member, Faze, in the group, but Blackface was insistent.
In an interview with On-Air-Personality Nedu, Blackface stated,“It took 2Face about six months before he agreed to let Faze join the group then I said to 2Face that this guy has to join the group because the harmony I am hearing in my head is more than two. And the guy looks like you so nothing happens but 2Face did not like it. After much deliberation, he joined the group and we put our work out.

“Some of these people for the industry wey no dey say the thing sathe thing be, e dey do me like say why dem dey keep truth wey dem know. The last time I saw Olisa Adibua doing an interview with 2Face he asked that ‘your brother sang African Queen, have you heard it?” He said that he had not heard it. He was asked that how did it come to this and 2Face said, ‘come to what?’ 2Face said, ‘I don’t want to talk about Blackface because any time I talk about Blackface, it takes me somewhere’. I was like when they talk about me ‘where e dey carry you go. You wey I carry come from Benue State?”(sic)
Blackface further claimed that when he brought 2baba to Lagos, Idibia’s mother thanked him, “His mother told me, ‘thank you, since you have been with my son he has been thinking like a normal human being.’ Now he cannot talk about me. Why can’t you talk about me? You go do juju for me or fetish thing?”(sic)
