The Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, situated in the state capital, is scheduled to announce its judgment on Wednesday, September 20th, regarding the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The petition challenges the victory of Governor Abba Yusuf from the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) in the election held on March 18th.
The tribunal communicated the judgment date in a notice distributed to the legal representatives of the involved parties on Monday. This announcement follows the closure of arguments by lawyers representing their respective clients on August 21st.

In the official results, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the NNPP the winner with 1,019,602 votes, surpassing the APC and its candidate, Nasir Gawuna, who received 890,705 votes. This gave the NNPP candidate a substantial margin of 128,897 votes.
Dissatisfied with the outcome, the APC submitted a petition to the tribunal, contesting the results declared by INEC.
The petition has attracted significant attention, both within and beyond the state, primarily due to the underlying political rivalry between prominent figures in Kano State, whose influence extends nationally.
