Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, on Tuesday, urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to respect the culture and norms of the host communities during their service year.
He gave the advised during the closing ceremony of the Orientation Exercise for 2023 Batch “B” Stream II Corps members at the NYSC Permanent Camp in kusalla, Karaye Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by Hajiya Umma Dallatu, a director in the state Ministry of Youth Development, Yusuf pledged continued support to ensure the success of the scheme in the state.
Yusuf said that his administration would continue to recognise the strength and vision of youths in the state.

“Let me also assure you that this administration will work with security agencies to guarantee your safety during and after the service year.
“We are fully committed towards providing an enabling environment for you to discharge your responsibilities and reward those of you who excel during the service year,” he said.
The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Malam Suleiman Ibrahim, described the orientation exercise as fundamental aspect of the scheme, designed to prepare the Corps members for the one year national service.
He said that the Corps members had been posted to various sectors, especially education, health and agriculture.
The coordinator warned the Corps members against night journey and unauthorised trips. (NAN)
