Students at the Rivers State University have taken to the streets in protest against a recent robbery incident that occurred in the female hostel.
GOOD EVENING NIGERIA learns that on Wednesday night, armed criminals wielding machetes and other weapons raided and terrorized the female students and stole valuable belongings..
Expressing their concern over the breach of security on campus, the protesting students are demanding swift action from the university administration to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring the culprits to justice.
They voiced the need for the university to prioritize the safety and well-being of its students and ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
The students, armed with placards bearing messages such as “RSU insecurity 5&6,” “our lives are in danger,” and “they r*ped and fi*gered us,” _ are voicing their outrage over the lack of adequate security measures on the campus.
Peace Uke, one of the protesters, urged the university administration to address the security vulnerabilities that allowed the robbers to gain unauthorized access to the premises.
Another protester, John Deere, stressed the urgency of swift action to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.

“This incident highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures on campus and serves as a wake-up call for the university to prioritise the safety of its students,” he told Daily Trust.
Neither the university management nor Rivers State Police Command has reacted to the incident as of press time.
