In a startling incident that transpired early Monday morning in the Ojota area of Lagos State, a group of soldiers launched a brutal assault on a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officer.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident occurred at 8 a.m. when eight soldiers descended upon the LASTMA officer, subjecting him to a prolonged and severe beating.
The footage of the altercation, now widely circulated, captures the soldiers relentlessly beating the officer while he fervently begged them to stop. But they did not yield.

Other LASTMA operatives took to their heels as their colleague was being mauled by the army personnel, and his pleas fell on deaf ears.

While the exact reason behind this act of aggression remains unclear, an unsubstantiated report suggests that it may be linked to a previous incident.
Allegedly, the LASTMA officers had reportedly mistreated a soldier in the same Ojota vicinity just last week.
This unconfirmed account has prompted speculation that the assault on the LASTMA official could be a form of retaliation.
The soldiers used both blows and planks to beat the officer to pulp before leaving the area.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, through the Director Operations, Mr. A. Peter, confirmed the incident.
He said: “We have reported the incident to the higher authorities of the army. They are already intervening in the matter.
“We will update you in due course. The act is totally condemnable.”
