An unidentified adult has leapt into the lagoon at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge area of Lagos State, according to reports from Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, the victim, whose body had yet to be recovered as of the time of filing this report, jumped into the lagoon around 2.43pm.
Emergency response teams have commenced a search to recover the individual from the water.
The police have cordoned off the vicinity, ensuring necessary measures are in place.
Confirming the incident, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, stated, “The incident happened truly. Marine police and the Lagos State emergency officials are here. Efforts are still on to bring out his body dead or alive.”
Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services’ Head of Public Education, Amodu Shakiru, representing Director Adeseye Margaret, also verified the occurrence, saying, “We got a distress call at about 2:43 pm and we moved down to the location.
“There is no update yet.”
