A man identified as Jaafar Lukman has been remanded in a correctional centre by a Kano State Sharia court in Kiru Local Government Area, following allegations that he injured the son of Jamila Mai-Kosai, after she declined to sell pap on credit for him.

The incident further involved Lukman reportedly pouring away the woman’s bean cake, bean paste, and pap, which she had been selling at a junction in Kano.

According to the police, the defendant approached Mai-Kosai with the intention of acquiring bean cake and pap on credit.

However, when she refused due to an outstanding debt, Lukman purportedly grew agitated and kicked over the pap, bean cake, bean paste, and frying oil.

When confronted with the charges, Lukman admitted his guilt but explained to the court that he was acting out of frustration and hunger at the time of the incident.

In response, the presiding Khadi, Malam Usman Haruna Usman, ordered that Lukman be remanded in prison custody. The court also set a date for the continuation of the case, scheduling it for September 4th.
