Renowned Nigerian-British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, is set to take on Robert Helenius as a replacement opponent after the anticipated bout against Dylian Whyte was abruptly canceled due to a positive anti-doping test result.

The scheduled match against Whyte was supposed to take place at the 02 Arena in London on August 12. However, Matchroom, the promoter of the event, announced the cancellation through an official statement posted on its Twitter account last Saturday.

The statement revealed that the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) had reported adverse analytical findings from a random anti-doping test conducted on Dillian Whyte.

In response to the unexpected turn of events, Anthony Joshua expressed his readiness to adapt and face the new challenge posed by Robert Helenius.

The 39-year-old Finnish-British fighter will now step into the ring against Joshua.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Joshua commented on the situation, emphasizing his respect for all opponents who step into the boxing ring.

Joshua stated, “This wasn’t in the script, I respect Helenius and may I say, I respect any male or female who steps into the ring. I am laser focused on the win.

“I can make steps forward to bigger and better things but the road map has a check point, Saturday night. May the best man win.”

In response, Robert Helenius, popularly referred to as a “true Viking,” expressed his eagerness to face the formidable Anthony Joshua. Helenius noted his willingness to embrace challenges and affirmed his commitment to seizing the opportunity presented by this new arrangement.

“I am excited about fighting Anthony Joshua on August 12, I am a true Viking that is willing to face any challenge at a moment’s notice. This is not an opportunity I was going to let slip away. I plan to make the most of it,” said Helenius.
