Borno Government has rolled out a postgraduate scholarship programme for indigent students studying science courses.
Beneficiaries must have gained admission to study for Masters of Doctorate degrees in Nigeria, Egypt, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa, or in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan or the United Kingdom.
Executive Secretary, Borno State Scholarship Board, Malam Bala Isa, told newsmen in Maiduguri on Saturday that beneficiaries must be studying in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
“The scholarship programme is in line with the 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic transformation initiative of the state government.
“This initiative is designed to bridge the existing human capacity gap in the state.
“Therefore, candidates with MSc, PhD admission in some selected universities in Africa, Asia and the United Kingdom are to apply through the Borno State scholarship board website,’’ Isa said.
He added that the scholarship board’s website had been opened to receive applications between Aug. 4 and Oct. 30, 2023.
