Tunde, aged 27, who happened to be the son of a traditionalist, was reportedly shot by his friend at Laoso camp around 6:30 p.m. The incident transpired as they were attempting to verify the potency of the charm.

According to a source, the friend of the deceased fired the gunshot with the intention of testing the charm’s power. However, upon realizing that Tunde had been fatally wounded, the friend fled the scene of the incident.

According to him, the deceased and his friend drank a concoction prepared for them by a native doctor who assured them that the charm was bullet-repelling and will prevent the bullet from killing them.

Tunde allegedly decided to test the effectiveness of the charms by requesting his friend to shoot him first as a test.

The source said as soon as Tunde’s friend fired the Dane gun, Tunde immediately collapsed and lost his life, after which he was rushed to a clinic at the camp, where he was confirmed dead, and the incident was reported at the Fagun Police station in Ondo town.

The State  Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Funmi Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said the deceased and his friend as cultists.

The PPRO said, “On the 01/08/2023 at Laosho camp via Laje, one Tunde Akinmoyewa, male, an ex-convict who is also a cultist while testing a locally made gun believed to be newly procured was accidentally shot by one of his boys, named Bode.
