The Kano State Government has directed residents of Nasarawa Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state to ensure clean and tidy environment.
The government also ordered the residents to cut and trim down all forms of unwanted grasses and trees within their areas.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Director Information, Ministry of Environment, Malam Samaila Gwammaja, in Kano on Friday.
The statement also quoted the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Alhaji Nasiru Garo, urging the residents to clear other debris around their compound within one week or risk the wrath of laws.
Garo gave the orders while inspecting all the gardens and parks in Nasarawa GRA and other places under the ministry of environment to asses their condition.
He said the inspection became necessary for government to have a full idea and records of all gardens and parks under the ministry.

“The call for the residents of Nasarawa GRA to clean their area environment, cut down grasses is part of government’s agenda to beautify the state and improve ecosystem and eco restoration for healthy leaving,” the commissioner explained.
Besides, Garo advised the residents to comply with the instructions as government would not spare anybody found wanting in cleaning his environment.
He warned that “the present administration is passionate to have a conducive and habitable environment, so there is need for people to complement government’s efforts in this direction”.
According to him, the staff of the ministry of environment have been deployed to monitor compliance.
