Former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Senator Ajibola Basiru, the spokesperson for the ninth Senate, have been officially ratified to replace the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and former National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore.
The decision was made during the NEC meeting at the Transcorp Hilton on Thursday, just an hour after President Bola Tinubu’s arrival. The President’s arrival was marked by tight security, with stern-looking officers suspected to be from the Department of State Services.
As soon as the appointments were announced, supporters of Ganduje and Basiru erupted in jubilation, almost disrupting the proceedings temporarily.

Notable dignitaries present at the NEC meeting included Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, former Governor of Osun State and pioneer chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Abubakar Kyari, former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Senator Ajibola Basiru, the spokesperson for the ninth Senate.
Profile of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje is a Nigerian politician and former Governor of Kano State. He was born on December 25, 1945, in Ganduje Village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, Nigeria. He holds a Doctor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Ibadan.
Ganduje has had a long and distinguished political career, serving in various capacities within the Nigerian government. He started his political journey as a Civil Servant and rose through the ranks, holding different administrative positions in Kano State.

Senator Ajibola Basiru is a Nigerian politician, lawyer, and legal practitioner. He was born on April 6, 1974, in Ila Orangun, Osun State, Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Ado Ekiti (now Ekiti State University) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1997.
