The Emir of Rano in Kano State, Alhaji Kabir Inuwa, on Sunday described education as a prerequisite for the upliftment of any society.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Information Officer, state Ministry of High Education, Malam Sunusi Kofar’Isa, in Kano.
The traditional ruler made the remark while receiving the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Yusuf Kofarmata, who paid him a courtesy visit at his palace.
Inuwa urged people of the area to develop keen interest on the education of their children.

The Emir lauded the political commitment demonstrated by the state government in promoting education sector, describing the move as a welcome development.
He pledged the commitment of the emirate council to give maximum support and cooperation towards enrolment of girls in schools.
Earlier, Kofarmata told the Emir that they were in his domain as part of familiarisation tour to institutions and seek for royal blessing.
The commissioner assured the Emir of his total support to any move that would assist towards transformation of tertiary institutions in the state.
