Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of seven persons in recent attacks carried out by suspected gunmen in the state.
The assailants reportedly targeted the villages of Gara and Gamji in the Burra District of Ningi Local Government Area during Tuesday night.
The victims’ remains were laid to rest on Wednesday morning.

The Spokesman of the Command, Superintendent Ahmed Wakili, who confirmed the killings described it as “unprovoked and mindless”.
He condoled with the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.

“We received a distress call that some bandits had attacked Kada and Gamji villages under Burra district of Ningi LGA. They came in large numbers, shooting sporadically; as a result, seven people were killed,” he said.
Wakil, however, said the operatives of the command, with support from the Nigerian Military, engaged the bandits and neutralized three of them in the process.
He added that others scampered in disarray into the nearby bush with possible gunshot wounds.
The bandits were also said to have killed one volunteer security guard and injured one soldier in Gamji Village during a gun duel with the soldiers.
