Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been granted bail in the sum of N20 million.
The bail conditions require him to provide a surety with landed property within the jurisdiction of the court in Ikoyi, Lagos, surrender his passport, and present a civil servant not below level 16 to complete the bail process.
GOOD EVENING NIGERIA reports that Emefiele appeared before Justice Nicholas Oweibo at the Federal High Court, Lagos, on Tuesday, where he faced charges and was subsequently granted bail.
The Department of State Services (DSS) charged him with two counts bordering on alleged possession of firearms, of which Emefiele has pleaded not guilty to.
After Emefiele’s plea, Daudu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), told the court that his client has been in detention for weeks. He also told Justice Oweibo that the application for bail has been filed and served on the prosecution.
