The Borno State Police Command has taken ten individuals into custody in connection with the alleged stabbing and killing of a police officer assigned to the command’s Crack Unit.
Mr. Yusuf Mohammed, the Commissioner of Police in Borno, disclosed this development during a press briefing held in Maiduguri, on Tuesday.
The commissioner who said that 78 others were also arrested with for other crimes, also said the suspects stabbed late Constable Babagana Mala, with a sharp object on his back.
āOn receipt of distress call, the Police patrol team responded and rescued the victim to Maiduguri Specialist Hospital for treatment where he was later certified dead.
āPolice undercover operatives obtained a video clip of the incident from a good Samaritan which led to the arrest of the following suspects.
āUsman Audu, Hauwa Usman, Aisha Musa, Abba Bala.
āSunday Garba, David Paul, Mohammed Abubakar, Jude Eze, Amaechi Abdulsalam, and Nduibuse Nnaji,āhe said.

He said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
The commissioner said that other suspects were also arrested in various raids on black spots within the metropolis, including a syndicate of four ladies and a man who are suspected to specialise in shoplifting.
āThe command has taken bold steps to checkmate youths involvement in violent crime, criminalities and anti-social behavior.
āThis will reduce the fear of committing crime and improve quality of life and ease of doing business, particularly in Maiduguri metropolis and beyond,ā he said.
He advised parents to always show keen interest on the type of friends and peer groups, their children/wards associate with.
He urged the public to always give the Police timely information on the activities of unpatriotic elements hibernating in their neighborhoods.
āThe Command shall remain resolute and committed in checkmating acts of lawlessness and excesses of youths.
