The police in Ogun State have confirmed the death of six friends who reportedly consumed alcohol at a gathering in Ogbogbo, Ijebu North-East Local Government Area.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday at a drinking joint where the seven friends had gathered for a pleasant time.
According to information gathered by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a serious altercation took place between the deceased and the suspect at the joint.
However, they later resolved their differences. In a gesture of reconciliation, the suspect offered to donate a bottle of drink to affirm their newfound harmony.
Tragically, all those who consumed the drink, except for the seventh person who served it, lost their lives.
The source revealed that a few hours after the gathering, news spread through the town that two of the friends had passed away, while the remaining four were hospitalized.
Sadly, the four others also succumbed to the effects of the drink the following day.
In the wake of the incident, the suspect is reported to have fled the area.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating, “I just confirmed that something like that occurred, but the families said they were not pressing charges and prefer to bury their dead.”
