Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule has raised an alarm over the influx of bandits fleeing security offensives in neighbouring Plateau State into some parts of the state. Leadership News reported.
He disclosed this during the expanded security meeting in Lafia, the state capital.
According to him, intelligence provided by security operatives identified some bandits who fled troubled areas in Mangu local government area of Plateau State, around Mangar and Ambaka areas, in Wamba local government area, as well as in Lafia East development area of Nasarawa State
Wamba local government area shares a border with Plateau State.
“The security crisis recently around Mangu local government area in Plateau State while it’s still ongoing, has led to a lot of migration of people with some of those bandits crossing into our state mostly from Mangu and Bokkos area,” the governor said.

A human rights organisation, Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation said that at least, 346 persons have been killed within three months in eight Local Government Areas in Plateau State.
The organistaion stated this in its report released on Thursday.
The organisation said out of the number, over 200 lives have been lost to sustained violent attacks in Mangu LGA alone as of Saturday, July 8, 2023.

The Tinubu administration will in the coming weeks unveil an initiative that will address insurgency and poverty, among other challenges confronting Nigerians especially those living in the northern region, according to the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima.
The Vice President disclosed this in chat with journalists while on a condolence visit to Kano.
Speaking on the plan to address challenges confronting Nigerians, the VP said, “the President is determined to define the meaning and concept of modern governance, and the crisis we have in the northwest which is further accentuated by poverty.
“The social exclusion is also something that the President is determined to frontally confront and in the coming weeks he is going to unveil the Pulaku solution.”
