Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of seven persons in recent attacks carried out by suspected gunmen in the state. The assailants reportedly targeted the villages of Gara and Gamji in the Burra District of Ningi Local Government Area during Tuesday night. The Jigawa state government says it has approved N50 million to empower 1,000 women traders, to alleviate the challenges posed by the fuel subsidy removal on their businesses. The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, has approved N2.7 billion as part-payment for the construction of 75 new junior and senior secondary schools in the state. In a statement he issued on Wednesday in Katsina, Malam Ibrahim Kalau, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, disclosed that the N2.7 billion represented only 20 per cent of the total amount to be paid to the contractors handling the construction projects. National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) says it recorded no fewer than 108 human rights violations between January and July in Adamawa. NHRC Coordinator in the state, Grace Mamza, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola on Wednesday. Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed,  on Tuesday, has inaugurated 30 new buses aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by commuters in the wake of the federal government’s subsidy removal. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Yankari Transport Corporation office, where Governor Bala Mohammed addressed the audience. The people residing around Kangiwa Square in Sokoto metropolis expressed relief on Tuesday as authorities finally evacuated the refuse dump that had been an eyesore in the area for an extended period. The refuse had accumulated inside the well-known race course, now renamed Kangiwa Square, causing concern among the local residents. Auto accident in Jajimaji, Birniwa Local Council of Jigawa State, resulted in the loss of eight lives and left 15 others injured. A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of 25 alleged fraudsters in a Correctional facility for forgery. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Tuesday signed an Executive Order 2023 on Financial Inclusion, to address the exclusion of about 2.1 million poor people in the state. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has discharged and acquitted Sule Lamido, the former governor of Jigawa State, and others who were facing allegations of money laundering. A three-member panel of justices, led by Justice Adamu Waziri, rendered the decision on Tuesday.
