Borno, Adamawa and Yobe governments have embarked on measures to ameliorate the current hardship on citizens caused by the removal of petrol subsidy. The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) supported Sokoto State Government to train 300 teachers, Islamic scholars and commercial motorcycle riders on handling and referral of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases to hospitals. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Saturday, has reported that more than 2000 incidents of human rights abuses and violations have been documented in Kwara State this year. Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State says the state government has so far spent N7.6 billion on constructing and equipping the ultra-modern motor park in the state. Kano Police Command on Saturday said it confiscated 820 cartons of suspected fake and expired drugs at Malam Kato Market in Fage Local Government Area of the state. In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in Kano, the drugs were recovered from two warehouses at the market. The Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) has said that its customers in Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe states would experience power outage from August 28 to September 2. The planned outage will hold from 9am to 5pm within the period. The Nasarawa State Government has said it will demolish structures built on water ways as part of measures to prevent flooding.
