Not less than 24 farmers have been killed, while several others remain unaccounted for in a recent mishap involving a passenger boat in Gbajibo Community, situated in the Mokwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State. The victims hailed from Gbajibo, Ekwa, and Yankeiade, all within Mokwa LGA, according to Daily Trust. Suspected kidnappers, armed with firearms, have killed a housewife and injured her husband in the capital city of Taraba State, Jalingo. The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, says that about 400,000 healthcare workforce in Nigeria is insufficient to cater for the healthcare needs of Nigerians. The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has presented palliatives worth N15b to the six states in the region, according to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The states are Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi and Taraba states. The food and non-food items were presented to the governors of the states by Vice President Kashim Shettima at a ceremony on Saturday in Maiduguri. Repentant Boko Haram terrorists have called upon the government to assist them in finding means of livelihood as they reintegrate into their communities following rehabilitation efforts. Not less than 15 people lost their lives when a boat carrying passengers, including children, capsized in Adamawa State on Friday evening. The tragedy occured as a canoe, laden with 23 passengers, primarily consisting of farmers, traders, and children, was making its way from Rugange village to Yola town capsized in Njuwa Lake near Dandu village in Yola South Local Government Area.
