The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced work to restore power to Birnin Kebbi and Sokoto following a fire outbreak that gutted two transformers on Thursday night. A 28-year-old man, Misbahu Salisu, has allegedly poisoned his day-old baby girl to death, because he preferred a male child. Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Friday sacked his Commissioner of Lands and Physical Planning, Adamu Kibiya, and the Special Adviser on Youth Development, Aliyu Yusuf-Imma. The two officials had in a viral video disparaged Vice President Kashim Shettima and threatened to kill judges of the state governorship election petition tribunal if they upturned the election of Yusuf. Minister of Transport, Senator Saidu Ahmad Alkali, has assured that the Kano to Maradi rail line project, with an estimated cost of approximately $2 billion, awarded during the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, will be completed by 2025. The Police Command in Katsina State says it has arrested a 30-year-old bandit, suspected to be involved in the killing of Dutsinma Area Commander, ACP Aminu Umar. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command has inaugurated 60 special female squad to enhance security in schools. Sokoto State police said four persons were killed in a recent banditry attack in Giyawa village, located in the Goronyo Local Government Area within the eastern senatorial district of the state.
