Twelve persons lost their lives in an auto crash on Gusau-Funtua Road on Wednesday, Sector Commandant of the Federal Roads Safety Corps in Zamfara, Mr Iro Danladi, has said. Danladi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the accident involved an 18-seater bus belonging to Zamfara State Mass Transport Company and a truck. The bus was carrying 25 passengers at the time of the accident, he said. In a brave act of self-defense, the residents of Jajuwal, a village in Toro LGA of Bauchi, on Tuesday, repelled the attack of gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, who invaded the village with the aim of kidnapping a target. According to Tribune Online, the residents, assisted by armed local vigilante members and hunters, repelled the attackers. Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero has commended Air Peace Airline’s Tuesday’s maiden commercial flight to Jeddah. The airline’s spokesman, Mr Stanley Olisa, stated in Ikeja on Wednesday that the emir commended Air Peace for expanding its Asian footprints with Tuesday’s flight. Nine out of 10 councillors in Kaura Local Council of Kaduna State have removed the council Chairman, Mr Mathias Siman, from office for alleged gross misconduct. A team of security operatives of the Nigerian Army has neutralised a wanted notorious bandit nicknamed Mai-Nasara at Sangeko forest in Kebbi State. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported that 17 bodies have been recovered, and 12 persons rescued in an accident where a boat carrying 104 people capsized in Taraba State.
