The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has directed former ministers, ex-lawmakers and other political office holders to declare their assets within the next three months. The directive is in conformity with the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the bureau to vet the assets of public officers. In line with the constitution, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have declared their assets. Also, the 36 governors have followed suit. The immediate past Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, has opened up on how he declined the offer of a university that offered him N20 million. Thirteen persons have been convicted for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) offences in Delta State from March, 2023, to date. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) yesterday said 15 people were killed following an alleged invasion of their communities in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The group also said 78 houses belonging to their members were burnt while over 2,000 cattle were still missing after the invasion. The Public Complaints Commission (PCC) has begun an investigation into the aviation industry following incessant complaints lodged by travellers. Some of the complaints include delayed flights, loss of baggage, cancellation of flights, damaged luggage, refusal to compensate or refund money paid, and lack of proper communication among others. Men of the anti-cultism unit of the Osun State Police Command have confiscated a cow allegedly meant for the celebration of the annual festival of a cult. OguedyouOperatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Ogun State, have dismantled a drug factory and arrested a suspect, Adekunle Adekola, around Ajaka in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state. The state Commander of the NDLEA, Ibiba Odili, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday. Odili said the officials busted the factory on Thursday and seized skuchies, cannabis sativa and codeine, among others. Skuchies is a concoction of different drugs. The federal government can build critical infrastructure from the N400 billion it has so far saved in one month following the removal of fuel subsidy, findings by Daily Trust on Sunday have shown. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had, during his inaugural speech on May 29, announced the removal of fuel subsidy, which means that market forces would determine the prices of petroleum products in the country. Conflict-torn Sudan is on the brink of a “full-scale civil war” that could destabilise the entire region, the United Nations warned Sunday, after an air strike on a residential area killed around two dozen civilians. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, in a landmark judgment, has ordered the disclosure of the spending details of about USD$5 billion Abacha loot by the governments of former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari. A Nigerian pilgrim, Aishatu y’an Guru Nahuce, has reportedly returned $80,000 (about N56 million) she found to the owner in Saudi Arabia. This was shared through the Facebook page of Independent Hajj Reporters of Nigeria yesterday. The post shared with the picture of the woman reads: “This Nigerian pilgrim Hajiya Aishatu y’an Guru Nahuce from Bungudu LGA of Zamfara State found $80,000 (N56 million) and handed it over to the Zamfara Pilgrims Welfare Agency official for onward return to the owner.
