A Family Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Tuesday, ordered that a skit maker Maruf Abdullahi, aka ” Trinity” be remanded in the Agodi correction centre for allegedly sexually exploiting a 10-year-old girl. The Magistrate, Mrs P. O. Adetuyibi ordered Abdullahi, 31, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife Rofiat Ahmed, 29, parents of the child should continue to be remanded in Agodi. Suspected diphtheria outbreak has killed at least 30 children and left 42 at the isolation center of the Specialist Hospital in Potiskum Local Government area of Yobe State. Armed bandits on Monday night killed four policemen serving under Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The officers were said to have mounted a checkpoint along Bungudu-Gusau Road when the armed bandits ambushed and opened fire on them. The spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the latest attack to Channels Television via telephone on Tuesday morning. Abubakar however could not confirm if any policeman was killed during the attack but promised to provide more information later. Germany is seeking to recruit 500,000 nurses from Africa in an apparent move to tackle shortages in its health system. The European country, struggling with a severe labour shortage, was already in discussions with South Africa-trained nurses to fill its vacancies. Khaya Sodidi, the deputy secretary-general of the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa), who disclosed this, said Germany wants the African country to train nurses for them, especially the unemployed youth. GOVERNOR Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, yesterday, wrote to the state House of Assembly requesting an extension of his medical leave. The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Olamide Oladiji, who confirmed the receipt of the letter, explained that the governor’s request was sequel to doctors’ advice on the need for him to take adequate rest after recuperating.
