The Federal Government has ordered surveillance patrol of the newly-opened Second Niger Bridge and its surroundings by security agents following a case of vandalism. It was learnt that some hoodlums vandalised a section of the bridge and made away with some fittings. The N336bn bridge was unveiled by former President Muhammadu Buhari in May. Malam Imam Galadanci, the in-law to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero, was buried in Kano on Wednesday. An Ondo State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Akure, the state capital, has sentenced a man, Friday Okeneji, to two years imprisonment for stealing some chemical substances worth N130,000. The convict, who is a pastor of a popular church in Iwaro Oka Akoko in the Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state was said to have committed the offence on July 2, 2023, in the town.
