The House of Representatives Tuesday mandated its committee on works (when constituted) to investigate the abandonment of section 1 of the ongoing Kano-Maiduguri Road by contractors. A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has stopped the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission from investigating the alleged missing N100 billion from the state’s Local Government Council accounts. The court, presided over by Justice S.A. Amobeda, on Tuesday also stopped the anti-graft commission and its agents from inviting, investigating, arresting, and intimidating local government chairmen in the state, pending the determination of the applicants’ motion on notice. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has taken the decision to provisionally suspend Nigerian track and field athlete Tobi Amusan due to failure to undergo anti-doping test on three occasions. The suspension was announced after it was discovered that Amusan had failed to comply with the requirements of the anti-doping regulations by missing three drug tests within a 12-month period. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has revealed that more than 137 scholars sponsored abroad by the fund have absconded. The House of Representatives is to investigate the non–remittance of due taxes by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) into the Federation account and the accusation by the Federation Account Allocation Committee. The late Eze of the Ezuhu na Amadi Autonomous Community in Abor Mbaise Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo was said to be receiving a guest identified as Chief Ignatius Nwaru when the attackers struck. The incident was said to have occurred at about 3.00p.m on Monday as the gunmen allegedly invaded Mmirioma’s palace in Nguru Nweke and shot him severally.
