Singapore authorities confirmed the execution of a 39-year-old man, Mohamed Shalleh, who was convicted of trafficking heroin. This marked the city-state’s fifth hanging this year and the third in just over a week. Mohamed Shalleh was sentenced to death for possessing around 55 grams of heroin “for the purpose of trafficking” in 2019. After five consecutive sessions of losses, Nigerian equities experienced a rebound with the overall capitalization surging by N41 billion due to investors showing interest in NASCON Allied Industries and 30 other companies. The self-declared new leader of Niger, Abdourahamane Tiani, stated on Wednesday that the junta would not yield to pressure from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has directed Google to remove 18 digital loan apps from the Google Play store. The commission raised concerns that these apps were operating without regulatory approval or were in violation of the Limited Interim Regulatory/Registration Framework and Guidelines for Digital Lending, 2022. Former Ivory Coast President Henri Konan Bedie, part of an old guard of politicians who dominated politics in the West African nation for a generation, has died, aged 89, a close relative told Reuters on Tuesday. Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has relaxed the curfew in 17 of the 21 Local Government Areas of the state. Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has pledged a monthly stipend to corps members serving in the state. Panic ensued in the Oba Akran Ikeja area of Lagos State as yet to be identified helicopter crashed into a building, igniting a massive fire. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state has directed the payment of N10,000 each to students of Kwara state origin studying in public-owned tertiary institutions.
