Police in Oyo State have arrested a grandfather for seizing his daughter’s day-old-baby in Oyo town and selling same to a baby factory in Abia for N700,000. Five accomplices of the grandfather were arrested at the baby factory. The Police Command in Adamawa says the dreaded “Shila boys” have killed a 37-year-old man, Umar Abdulkadir. Farmers in the Difa community, in the Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State on Friday expressed concerns over continued attacks by hippopotamuses ravaging their farmlands. The farmers said the incessant attacks exposed them to losses and threatened the food security effort of the government. Nigeria’s gross official reserves have experienced a slower decline, dropping by -USD167 million month-on-month to reach around USD34.0 billion at the conclusion of July 2023. This comes after the reserves had a larger fall of -USD975 million in June 2023. This is contained in the audited financial statement of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), published on its website. Resident doctors under the aegis of Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) have suspended the indefinite strike embarked upon on July 26. The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has said that Nigeria’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2023 (1Q23) stood at 2.4 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y). The Defence Headquarters says Nigerian troops have, in the last one week, neutralised 38 terrorists, apprehended 242 others and rescued 89 kidnapped hostages in different operations across the country.
