The Police Command in Kano State has arrested six persons who allegedly chanted provocative slogans against Emir of Kano, thereby causing breach of peace. The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hussaini Gumel, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Monday in Kano. Niger’s new Prime Minister Lamine Zeine has described the sanctions imposed on the military junta as an “unfair challenge,” but said the country would overcome them. Zeine, who was appointed by the junta a week ago, said on Monday that Niger was interested in economic cooperation with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). A Jos Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, sentenced two brothers and one other to three months each in the correctional centre for attempting to rob a couple of their valuables. The convicts, one Isah Paul, 22, Isah Daniel, 25, and Raphael Anthorny, 18, were sentenced after they each pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against them. The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has introduced an admission portal for use by all polytechnics, to ease mobilisation of all Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
