A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has nullified all actions taken by state government after the passage and signing of 2024 Emirates Council Law. The Kano State Police Command has called on the public to remain peaceful and patriotic as the Federal High Court prepares to hear sensitive cases related to the Emirship tussle. The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan has said that the verification exercises of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System have exposed 1,618 civil servants with ‘fake/illegal’ employment letters. The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the death of Mukhtar Garba Baballiya, a vigilante group leader in Ja’en community, Gwale Local Government Area during a thuggery clash. It was reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday night when the vigilante group leader tried to intervene in a dispute between Ja’en Makera and Ja’en Unguwar Lalle thugs, where he was stabbed. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has said that a total of 1,141 suspected and 65 confirmed cases of cholera with 30 deaths have been reported from 96 local government areas (LGAs) in 30 States of the Federation. NCDC, in its public health advisory on Thursday, said Bayelsa, Zamfara, Abia, Cross River, Bauchi, Delta, Katsina, Imo, Nasarawa and Lagos States were the 10 states that contributed 90 per cent of the burden of cholera presently in the country. Barely two weeks after over 30 mining workers were buried following the collapse of a mining pit in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, another mining pit has collapsed in the Adunu community of Paikoro Local Government Area of the state. Preliminary information from the mining pit collapse says an unidentified number of miners were buried in the pit. Kaduna State House of Assembly has recommended that the immediate-past governor of the state, Nasir el-Rufai, be prosecuted for alleged abuse of office and money laundering in his administration. This was following the investigation of the ad-hoc committee set up by the House, led by Henry Zacharia. A newlywed woman, Habiba Ibrahim, has reportedly cut the manhood of her 40-year-old husband, Salisu Idris, while he was asleep. She was said to have been arrested by the police.
