The Emir of Kano’s palace has been gutted by fire. The fire outbreak was suspected to have been ignited by suspected arsonists late on Friday night. According to sources, the fire destroyed a part of the palace at the Gidan Rumfa where the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, is occupying. “It was the palace at Kofar Kudu. Police authorities in Bauchi have rescued a five-year-old boy who was allegedly chained by his father in the state. The boy was confined to a room for three days without proper food, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, said on Friday. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano has proposed a mandatory drug test for prospective couples as part of measures to reduce drug abuse in the state. Abductors of Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu mother of the famous Hausa musician, Dauda Adamu popularly known as Rarara, have reportedly demanded a ransom of N900m for her release. A building under construction has collapsed, killing seven persons including the owner of the structure in Kano The collapse, which occurred during heavy rainfall on Friday morning at Kunto quarters, in Gwale local government area also left eight others injured, currently receiving treatment at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital. Tragedy struck on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, when a senior officer of the Nigeria Customs Service collapsed and died during a hearing at the House of Representatives. The officer, whose identity remains undisclosed, experienced sudden health complications around 1:00 pm while attending an engagement with a House Committee.
