The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has said that the Federal Government will commence discussions on the new minimum wage with labour unions in March. The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal of Tonye Cole and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the election of Siminalayi Fubara as Rivers State governor for lacking in merit. Affirming Fubara as the duly elected governor of Rivers State, the court held that the appellant did not prove the allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, among others. The Supreme Court, on Thursday, affirmed the election of Ahmed Aliyu as the governor of Sokoto State, dismissing the appeal of Saidu Umar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).  The judgement of the apex court panel led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun was delivered by Justice Tijani Abubakar. The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Agbu Kefas as governor of Taraba State. The apex court in a unanimous decision on Thursday, dismissed the appeal by Professor Yahaya Sani of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) for grossly lacking in merit. Professor Sani had asked the apex court to set aside the victory of governor Kefas Agbu in the March 18, 2023 governorship election. He had alleged non compliance with the Electoral Act, irregularities and other malpractices. Namibia’s President Hage Geingob, 82, is flying to the US to receive “specialised” medical treatment for cancer, his office has said. It comes less than a week after his office said that medical tests revealed that he had “cancerous cells”. President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday departed Abuja for Paris, France, on a private visit, according to the Presidency. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, made this known in a statement on Wednesday. Killings and burning of houses have continued in Mangu town of Mangu local government area of Plateau state despite the 24-hour curfew imposed by the government. Governor Celeb Mutfwang had imposed the curfew after fresh killings were recorded in the area, on Tuesday. A middle-aged man and factory worker Tukur Adamu has died while fighting with his colleague during working hours in Kano. Both the late Adamu and his co-worker are casual staff of Fas Agro Sacks Company at Sharada Ja’in Quarters in the Kano metropolis. The unfortunate incident that led to Adamu’s death ensued Saturday evening when an argument broke out between him and his co-worker James Isma’il, aged 32, over the factory uniform.
