Hollywood actors’ union, the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (Sag-Aftra), says it has agreed a tentative deal with Hollywood studios to end a 118-day-long strike. The Ministry if Works in collaboration with the Lagos State government on Wednesday flagged off the Emergency Repairs of the Third Mainland Bridge. Out of the 85 directors who were invited to undergo assessments for promotions and appointments to the position of Permanent Secretary in the federal civil service, 65 did not pass the examinations. Unions within the aviation industry have directed the withdrawal of all flights to Owerri, Imo State, from all airports in Nigeria. The decision comes in response to the directive of the Labour Union, composed of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), following the assault on NLC President, Joe Ajaero, in Owerri last week. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has deployed nine additional Residents Electoral Commissioners (REC) in Imo for Saturday’s governorship poll. The Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri on Monday. Suspected political thugs on Tuesday morning, attacked the residence of a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Chief Diekivie Ikiogha, in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa, the state’s capital. The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba has ordered the return of a 37-year-old auxiliary nurse, Fisayo Ogedengbe, to police custody in connection with the controversial death of hip-hop artiste Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad. Veteran Nollywood Actor, John Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu has undergone surgery to remove one of his legs, in a procedure to save the actor’s life. This was made known in a statement, via his verified Instagram page on Monday, by his daughter. It was revealed that the actor had undergone seven successful surgeries in one day including the amputation of his leg. In order to keep him alive, one of his legs had to be amputated.
