Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has appointed 26 commissioners, among them cabinet members of Ifeanyi Okowa, his predecessor. Daily Trust reported. Also on the 26-man list sent to the State Assembly for confirmation is Uduaghan Orode, daughter of former governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan. Four former commissioners that served in the immediate past government of Okowa that are on the list are Charles Aniagwu (Information), Chief Tilije Fidelis Okenmor (Finance), Rose Ezenwu (secondary education), and Kingsley Ashibuogwu (higher education). The Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Sonny Echono, says the federal government is owing the organisation N323 billion. According to Premium Times, Mr Echono said the federal government borrowed N371.3 billion from the agency but has only refunded N48 billion so far. He stated this on Tuesday when he appeared before an ad hoc committee of the House of Representatives investigating the alleged missing N2.3 trillion in TETFUND.
