An an Islamic teacher, Obasanmi Waliyullahi, is to cool his heels at Kirikiri Correctional Centre for 21 years for attempting to commit sexual assault by penetration and also engaged in indecent treatment of his 15-year-old pupil, (name withheld). Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sentenced Waliyullahi, following his guilty plea to the two amended charge of attempted sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has released its first-ever report on the devastating global impact of high blood pressure, which it revealed that 1.3 billion people are living with hypertension globally. The report made available on Tuesday showed approximately four out of every five people with hypertension are not adequately treated. It said that if countries could scale up coverage, 76 million deaths could be averted between 2023 and 2050. The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) said the oil and gas industry generated over $23billion in 2021. The Executive Secretary of NEITI, Dr Orji Ogbonnaya-Orji said this while presenting highlights on the 2021 Oil and Gas report unveiled on Monday in Abuja.
