Property Worth N600m Destroyed, 6 Injured in Tanker Explosion at Nasarawa Filling Station

A fuel-laden tanker exploded at the Sandaji Filling Station along the Lafia-Jos road in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, resulting in the destruction of property estimated at over N600 million.

The incident occurred during the discharge of petroleum products at the filling station, as recounted by Comfort Igwe, one of the pump attendants on site.

Fortunately, no lives were lost thanks to the quick response of the Federal Fire Service and other security personnel, who prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent properties around the filling station

A staff of the filling station who sustained injury from the fire outbreak was rushed to hospital for medical attention.

Acting Director, Nasarawa State Fire Service, Mr. Ombugu Joshua, called on residents of the state to always alert the firefighters on time whenever they experience a fire outbreak for prompt response.

Meanwhile, the owner of the affected filling station, Mr. Aliyu Sandaji, disclosed that the tanker loaded with 28 million litres of premium motor spirit went on flame consuming the entire fuel.

It also burnt down a Hilux vehicle belonging to the company and other properties yet to be identified.
